When Evelyn was 8-years-old, her life took an abrupt turn. She developed a fever and a sore jaw. At first, the doctors who examined her thought she had a virus. But a week later, the pain and fever were back, and a blood test was ordered.

That night, Evelyn’s mom received a call from the lab telling her to take her daughter to BC Children’s Hospital right away. Evelyn was diagnosed with Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She started lifesaving chemotherapy the next day.

Evelyn has now finished treatment and is doing well. Her body was left with marks from needles from chemotherapy and blood work, however she had been brave and faced all these in a positive way.

Evelyn is now 11 years old, and she loves to draw!
